SIFC is committed to keep faith communities and groups up-to-date with what's happening in the Scottish and UK Parliaments. Some of the main ways we do this are through our regular Parliamentary Newsletter, the internet and visits to faith communities.
When policy proposals may affect faith communities, we provide research, produce briefings and organise consultation meetings to enable the faith communities to have their say on shaping the policy. We also provide parliamentary evidence if necessary. SIFC has links with both the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government.
One way we help feed in the views and concerns of faith communities to the Scottish Government, and keep up-to-date with what's happening in the Scottish government, is through our membership of Government advisory groups and participation in cross party groups.
The Scottish Parliament's public petition's committee requested written evidence from SIFC in relation to the proposal to ban the slaughter methods used to produce halal and kosher food. Click here to read the evidence we sent to the committee on this issue.
