Inter Faith Week in Glasgow : November 2009
The week began with a visit
by Archbishop Conti and the Catholic Committee for Inter-religious Dialogue to
the Central Mosque. The group were warmly welcomed and shown round the mosque
before engaging in a conversation about the importance of inter faith in the
world today. On Tuesday evening the Council of Christians and Jews held a
public lecture entitled 'Israel after Goldstein’ which gave rise to a lively and
sometimes heated debate. That same day the Hindu women had hosted a meal
and conversation for women and young people at the Mandir in La Belle Place. St Mungo Museum in partnership with Glasgow
Sharing of Faiths held a family fun day to bring the week to a close. A good
number of children participated in face painting, story telling and other
interesting workshops. This event was so successful that it has been
decided to host similar events each Inter Faith Week.
